Dr. Devorah Lieberman Awarded 2024 Legacy Woman of the Year by California State Senate
On March 16, 2024, Dr. Devorah Lieberman, President Emerita of the University of La Verne (ULV) and IAUP Executive Committee Member, was has awarded the title of 2024 Legacy Woman of the Year on behalf of the California State Senate by Susan Rubio, Senator for the 22nd District. The acknowledgment highlights Dr. Lieberman’s exceptional contributions, service, and leadership in the field of higher education, particularly regarding non-traditional students in the region.
As the first female president of the University of La Verne, Dr. Lieberman oversaw substantial advancements within the institution, with endowment increasing from $36 million to $151 million during her tenure. She introduced strategic initiatives such as the establishment of the College of Health & Community Well-Being and the implementation of innovative academic programs, among other endeavors, consolidating the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
Beyond her tenure, Dr. Lieberman has continued to influence the landscape of higher education through her consultancy firm, Lieberman & Associates. Her dedication to fostering pathways for student success continues to resonate throughout the academic field.
