Fostering Innovation and Leadership in Latin America and the Caribbean
The IAUP, represented by its President, Dr. Fernando León García, took part in the Annual Meeting of the Network of Latin American and Caribbean Associations of Private Universities (REALCUP), held at Universidad Anáhuac Puebla from October 1-3, 2024. The event brought together more than 60 international speakers and over 30 university presidents to address key issues such as inclusive quality and the dynamic relevance of private universities in Latin America and the Caribbean. Dr. León García was part of a panel with colleagues from Peru, Chile, and Ecuador, exploring “Internationalization and Global Integration”, as well as a discussion on the challenges of university leadership in the post-pandemic era, hosted by the President of REALCUP, Dr. Rodolfo De Vincenzi, Rector of the Universidad Abierta Interamericana of Argentina.
The conference emphasized the need to consolidate a strategic framework for private higher education institutions, focusing on successful coverage and societal impact. Discussions also explored topics such as internationalization, global integration, and strengthening partnerships with edtech initiatives and startup culture within universities. Further attention was given to the efficiency and transformative capacity of quality assurance systems, both internally and through external agencies, as well as the regulatory challenges and interaction with governments and legislation.
