UNAI sponsors the Second Climate Change Academic Meeting
Marraquesh, MoroccoUnited Nations Academic Impact, a partner of IAUP since its inception in 2010, will be the sponsor of the 2nd CCAM 2016, Marrakech (Second Climate Change Academic Meeting: “University Intellectual Social Responsibility”.) This will be also the COP 22 -22nd Conference of the Parties, and will be held in Marraquesh, Morocco next November 10 & 11, 2016.

IAUP Triennial Conference 2017The IAUP XVIII Triennial Conference will be held in Vienna, Austria from July 7th to 8th, 2017.
IAUP features prominently in a ground-breaking new two-volume work on international university management, Strategies for University Management, J. Mark Munoz & Neal King (Eds), Business Expert Press (2016).
The IAUP will hold its next semi-annual meeting in Cape Town, South Africa on October 13-16, 2016. This meeting will be hosted by Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) and Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) The Western Cape of South Africa is one of the world’s most scenic regions and a most appropriate venue for this second semi-annual meeting of the IAUP in the year 2016.
With record attendance for a semi-annual meeting and an excellent program, including two panel sessions, the Spain meeting held at the University of Alcalá, was a resounding success.
The IAUP is pleased to announce that the European Women Rectors Association (EWORA) will hold its inaugural meeting in Brussels on June 20th, 2016. Among the founding Board members is Dr. Gülsün Saglamer who is a longtime member of the IAUP and always has worked very hard on the promotion of the Role of Women in Higher Education. She will become the President of this organization, EWORA.
2016 ACE Annual Meeting
Participation of the IAUPAs has become a tradition every year, the IAUP participated in the 2016 98th Annual Meeting of the American Council on Education (ACE.) This year the venue was San Francisco, California and the number of participants was a record-breaking figure of more than 1,600 attendees, including more than 250 presidents and chancellors and over 170 chief academic officers and provosts. The dates were March 12-15, 2016. As usual, IAUP sponsored the International Welcome and Networking Reception, held on Saturday, March 12, 5:00 to 6:00 pm. IAUP also co-sponsored the International Special Session held this year on Sunday. March 13, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
As expressed in our History of the IAUP: The First 30 Years (Vol. I of the IAUP History, p.107) the establishment of the worldwide UN International Day of Peace, was unanimously approved by the UN General Assembly during its 36th Session, on November 30, 1981. The UN designated the third Tuesday of every September as the yearly Day of Peace.
The United Nations Department of Public Information/NGO Conference has been announced to be held in Geongju, Republic of Korea on May 30 to June 01, 2016. IAUP is proud to be an important NGO member with the United Nations and would like to promote this event among its membership and other interested parties. You may organize a workshop, an exhibit or submit speaker proposals, among other things. The theme is Education for Global Citizenship.
IAUP Semi-Annual Meeting
at Alcalá University, SpainAlcalá University, Spain, headed by Rector Fernando Galván, has finalized all preparations as host institution for our next semi-annual meeting, scheduled for May 19-21, 2016. The University of Alcalá (UAH) is one of Europe’s oldest. Its origins can be traced as far back as the Studium Generale, or programme of university studies, that was instituted on 20 May 1293 under the protection of King Sancho IV de Castilla.
ELS Educational Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the third year of our sponsorship, in conjunction with the United Nations, of the Many Languages, One World Student Essay Contest and Global Youth Forum for 2016. The contest will qualify contestants for a trip to New York to participate in the United Nations Global Youth Forum. The goal of the Many Languages, One World Student Essay Contest and Global Youth Forum is to support multilingualism and to recognize the continued impact of the United Nations’ six official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), one of IAUP’s closest partners, is convening an academic gathering with the purpose of discussing the role of universities and their social and intellectual responsibility on the question of Climate Change and its consequences as well as other issues related to sustainable development.
The IAUP semi-annual meeting held in Gold Coast, Australia from October 14-17, 2015, was highly successful. Prof. Tim Brailsford, Vice Chancellor and President of Bond University was the gracious host and all meetings were held at the beautiful Bond University campus.
In commemoration of the 34th UN International Day of Peace, Kyung Hee University will hold the Peace BAR (spiritually Beautiful, materially Affluent, humanly Rewarding) Festival this September. The International Day of Peace was proposed by Kyung Hee University and the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), submitted by the Costa Rican government, and adopted in 1981 at the UN General Assembly.
After the great success of the Oxford and Wroxton IAUP 50th Anniversary Conference, held last May 22-24, the third semi-annual meeting of this triennium (2014-2017) will be held in Gold Coast, Australia on October 14-16, 2015. The host institution will be Bond University and the President and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tim Brailsford and his team are ready to receive those of you who decide to participate.
