11th International Conference of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities

The following event by one of our IAUP members may be of interest to many in higher education, especially those interested in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG,) a longtime IAUP member will host the 11th International Conference of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU,) on February 25-27, 2015. The Title of this conference is “100,000 Strong in the Americas: Challenges and Opportunities for a More Prosperous and Fair Hemisphere.”

HACU’s President & CEO, Dr. Antonio Flores, indicated the following: We are pleased to be back in the historic and beautiful city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. This has been the site of several other successful international conferences and events, and we know that this, too, will be a gathering to remember. This year’s HACU focuses on the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Initiative which was created to increase the number of U.S. students studying in Latin America to 100,000, and the number of Latin American students studying in the United States to 100,000 by the year 2020. HACU is committed to work within this initiative to encourage the exchange of students, faculty and staff at its member institutions. We know that in a world that is more connected than ever, study abroad and international experiences become critical to the development of a workforce ready to deal with the most challenging issues facing us today.

The 11th International Conference promises to offer a unique platform to discuss just how colleges and universities can work together to promote these exchanges so that our students, universities and countries continue to prosper. We look forward to a rich discussion during our plenary sessions, workshops and other events along with some excellent opportunities for networking, and we hope you will take advantage of these opportunities. Thank you for joining us at this year’s International Conference. HACU is grateful for the generous support of our sponsors, exhibitors and advertisers, and especially that of our local member institutions in Guadalajara and Guanajuato who have made the conference and symposium possible. Please enjoy HACU’s 11th International Conference and your stay in Guadalajara.
