IAUP Participates in Panel on the State of Education in the Americas at QS Summit 2024

At the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Ranking: Americas 2024 Summit, Dr. Fernando León García, President of the IAUP and CETYS University, joined an expert panel to discuss the “State of Education in the Americas”. The event, held on October 3, 2024, in Mexico City at the Jaime Torres Bodet Cultural Center, gathered key higher education leaders from Argentina, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Moderated by Dr. Arturo Reyes Sandoval, Director of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), the panel addressed pressing issues such as increasing access to education and the role of scientific systems in shaping regional strategies.

During the discussion, Dr. León García shared insights on aligning curriculums with industry feedback to better prepare students for the workforce., while Dr. Orestes Quesada from the University of Puerto Rico emphasized the need to expand university enrollment in the region, and Rui Oppermann from Capes in Brazil highlighted the importance of personalized programs and mental health support for students. Angélica Careaga, Director of CASE, also explored strategic partnerships between higher education institutions and their global competitiveness.
