20th IAUP Triennial Conference to take place in Beijing, China

The IAUP will hold its 20th Triennial Conference in Beijing, China, from October 13 to 15, 2024. This gathering of higher education leaders will focus on the theme “Generative AI and the Future of Higher Education,” exploring the revolutionary impact of artificial intelligence on universities worldwide.

More than 60 international speakers will share their insights into how AI is transforming educational structures, teaching, and learning globally. Topics such as the ethical dimensions of AI, its use in educational innovation, governance, and talent development, as well as its overall role in shaping the future of higher education will be addressed.

In addition to panel discussions, the conference will facilitate the signing of memorandums of understanding between various educational institutions, strengthening international relationships and promoting high-impact collaborative projects. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the Science and Technology Forum, offering a platform to discuss the latest technological advances shaping the future of education.

This conference marks a pivotal moment for the association, as it concludes the 2021-2024 triennium led by IAUP President Fernando León-García. During this period, the IAUP focused on the recovery and transformation of institutions post-pandemic, within a framework of innovation and inclusion.

Through initiatives like the 19th Triennial Conference, Leadership Development Seminars held in Mexico, Qatar, and Denmark, Regional Conferences in Colombia, Egypt, Japan, the UK, Chile, and Mexico, Global Higher Education Surveys, a focus on women’s leadership, and international student entrepreneurship competitions, the association advanced its mission of being a global platform that facilitates the exchange of professional experiences among educational leaders.

The upcoming IAUP Presidency for 2024-2027 includes Dr. Shawn Chen, Chancellor of SIAS International University (China) as President, Mr. Tatsuro Tanioka, Vice Chancellor of Tanioka Gakuen Education Foundation (Japan) as Secretary-General and Dr. Brent White, Chief Global Officer of University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (USA) as Treasurer.
