IAUP Publication Highlights Challenges and Progress for Women Leaders in Higher Education
The recent publication “Spotlighting Female Leadership: Strategies, Stories, Perspectives” edited by Dr. Devorah Lieberman, President Emerita of the University of La Verne, was featured in an article by Nathan M. Greenfield and Brendan O’Malley, published by University World News on October 12, 2024. The report explores the journeys and challenges of 10 women leaders, members of the IAUP, in higher education worldwide. Developed under IAUP’s Women’s Leadership Initiative led by Dr. Fernando Léon García, IAUP President, the report addresses issues like imposter syndrome, gender biases, and the need for mentorship while emphasizing the value of diversity and inclusion in leadership. It offers strategies to build equitable, thriving academic communities and pathways for underrepresented groups.
