Spotlighting Female Leadership: A New Podcast Series from ACE
The American Council on Education (ACE) recently announced the launch of a new podcast series, dotEDU Global Voices, a three-part exploration of leadership stories from women featured in the book Spotlighting Female Leadership: Strategies, Stories, Perspectives by Dr. Devorah Lieberman, President Emerita of the University of La Verne. Hosted by Dr. Lieberman and Sarah Spreitzer, Vice President and Chief of Staff, Government Relations at ACE, the series shines a light on the experiences and strategies of these women leaders in higher education, who are members of the IAUP.
The first episode, features Gülsün Sağlamer, who shares her journey as the first and only female rector in Istanbul Technical University’s 250-year history. This episode offers a unique perspective on leadership challenges and achievements in a traditionally male-dominated environment, as well as how the Rector’s leadership helped modernize the university.
The second episode features Sue Cunningham, President of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), who shares how her transition from a stage manager in the arts to a top leader in higher education was driven by discovering and embracing her own leadership style, inspiring other women to embark on similar journeys.
The third episode will feature Silvia Giorguli, President of El Colegio de México. Each episode provides valuable insights into the diverse experiences of women in leadership roles, highlighting their contributions to higher education on a global scale.
To complement the podcast series, Devorah Lieberman has authored a blog post, The Power of Personal Storytelling in Higher Education Leadership, which delves into the significance of personal narratives in shaping leadership perspectives and fostering connections within the higher education community.
