IAUP, Santander Universidades and ACE Strengthen Ties at ACE2023
The IAUP took part in the 2023 American Council on Education (ACE) Annual Meeting held in Washington, DC from April 13 to April 15 and attended by over 1,000 leaders in higher education from both the USA and around the world, organizing several activities in collaboration with Santander Universidades.
Thanks to the support of ACE President and IAUP Executive Committee member Ted Mitchell and Santander Universidades Executive Director Arturo Cherbowski, the three organizations were able to convene and advance collaboration with colleagues from across the globe at events such as the Latin American and Global Dinner, which included a keynote delivered by the Ambassador to Mexico, His Excellency Esteban Moctezuma.
Other sessions organized by both the IAUP and Santander Universidades included a Roundtable Discussion held with representatives from the USA, Ibero-America, and Europe, which served as a basis for future collaboration between ACE, Santander Universidades, and IAUP, as well as a Panel Session on Best Practices in Higher Education Global Engagement from a Transatlantic and Global Perspective.
The fifth IAUP Executive Committee Meeting for 2021-2024 was also held during this event, using a hybrid format and with participants from over 20 countries.
The IAUP was represented at the ACE2023 by a diverse group of its members from around the world, including Kakha Shengelia, President of Caucasus University in Georgia, Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of Daffodil International University in Bangladesh, Ichiro and Tatsuro Tanioka, President and Vice President of the Tanioka Education Group in Japan, Tomás Morales, President of California State University San Bernardino, Mildred García, President of American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), Allan Goodman, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of International Education, as well as Dr. Fernando León-García, IAUP and CETYS University President.
