Third Edition of Many Languages, One World Contest

ELS Educational Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the third year of our sponsorship, in conjunction with the United Nations, of the Many Languages, One World Student Essay Contest and Global Youth Forum for 2016. The contest will qualify contestants for a trip to New York to participate in the United Nations Global Youth Forum. The goal of the Many Languages, One World Student Essay Contest and Global Youth Forum is to support multilingualism and to recognize the continued impact of the United Nations’ six official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

The International Association of University Presidents returned to the location of its first ever meeting – Oxford and Wroxton, United Kingdom. Conference venues included Oxford University’s Trinity College, which hosted one day of the historic 1965 meeting, and Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Wroxton College, which hosted the other day. Many Languages, One World is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for talented, bright multilingual students to present their perspective and opinions at the General Assembly of the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. This year’s essay topic asks students to research and reflect on the proposed sustainability goals of the United Nations post-2015 global development agenda.

United Nations Lecture Series Named in Honor of J. Michael Adams

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon paid tribute to J. Michael Adams, former president of Fairleigh Dickinson University, at the launch of the new Conversation Series named in his honor. Organized by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) program, which President Adams helped create, the J. Michael Adams Conversation Series each year will invite a globally renowned scholar to speak to, and interact with, the United Nations community on a subject of global significance and interest.
